An Introduction and Mission Statement

Greetings to our early audience.

Some of you may have followed my early pursuits in this particular area of amateur/passion-fueled sports journalism on my previous blog on this platform. After a near-decade hiatus, I have returned, and this time, I’m bringing friends.

Black Stitch Hockey will not be like other sporting analysis and commentary “brands”, for lack of a better term. My voice will be complemented by those of Christian – an analytics expert, phenomenal orator, excellent armchair scout and diehard Anaheim Ducks fan, and Damien – a passionate follower of the game who waded through the dog days of the Pittsburgh Penguins (yeah, a Philadelphia Flyers fan – me – and a Penguins fan as two of the main hydra heads – What could go wrong?) with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things NHL. We seek to demonstrate fervor while also exhibiting quality analysis that is honest, observant and accurate while keeping readers and viewers engaged and enthralled.

In time, we will also be providing an opportunity for two college players in our close personal circle to document their experiences in an exciting, new pursuit. At the moment, it feels right that we will only tease what is to come there – It might seem bold to declare, but it will be unlike anything else of the sort that you might have read in the past. Additionally, BSH (no, not Broad Street Hockey – No disrespect, though, of course) eventually will be branching into other media and avenues of analysis and entertainment. It will be very exciting to launch that and share that area with you. In the short term/near future, you can expect Christian and I to be providing our assessments of recent transactions and personnel moves by all 32 NHL teams in what has been a very exciting summer to this point.

We are eager to see where this road brings us and are welcoming all those who want to join us on the journey. Looking forward to bringing you a very unique product.

On behalf of the whole Black Stitch Hockey team, welcome and enjoy!

— Liam A.
