Welcome to another round of PWHL Analytics. As we have reached the midpoint in the season for all 6 teams, I decided it would be an exciting time to compile and analyze the scoring performances and outputs of not only all of the teams, but also the individual players. For those of you who did not see the model I published at the end of last season, that model can be found here, and is a great tool to compare the progress and regression of players from the 2024 to the 2024-25 season. Just past the midway point in the 2024-25 PWHL season, the average number of goals scored per game is up 8% against the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. On an individual level, the league currently has 13 forwards producing at a Superstar pace (Up 2 from 2024) and 8 defenders (Up 1). Despite this increase, the number of Stars has decline from 8 to 4 in the forward group, but has remained at 4 players on the blue line this season. The most notable shifts have come from a pair of defenders this season. Jincy Roese has more than doubled her scoring output this season, ascending from an Average performance of 0.21 PPG last season to a 0.54 PPG Superstar performance. In contrast, Savannah Harmon has descended from a 0.50 PPG Superstar output in Ottawa in 2024 to a Replacement level output of 0.06 PPG.
